Boda Boda operators in Machakos county have raised concern over murders of their members and asked the government to beef up security.
The riders said three of their members had recently been killed by people who had posed as customers.
Speaking yesterday at Tala town in Matungulu sub-county, the chairman of a boda boda association Joel Mwendwa cautioned riders against carrying strangers at night.
Mwendwa said other challenges riders face are bad roads and harassment by motorists. “We have had many accidents which are caused by motorists,” said Mwendwa.
He said in the past three months, 12 boda boda riders had died in road accidents in Matungulu and Mavoko sub-counties.
