Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi yesterday told residents of the Mt. Kenya East that the Alliance Party of Kenya (APK) will spearhead the region’s political agenda.
Speaking yesterday in Meru town after inspecting the ongoing construction of a modern market at Makutano, Kiraitu said the revival of the “Bus party”, as it is popularly known, will enhance the political bargaining power of the region ahead of next year’s election.
“I am announcing to you that the Mbus is now fixed and is ready to carry us forward. We cannot accept be driven by others who have their own party but we are ready to join a coalition that is ready to listen and accommodate our political vision and interests,” he said.
He called on residents and politicians from the region to support the party, arguing that no region can succeed politically without a party which can be used to push for their interests.
