Kisumu county has rolled out an accelerated Covid -19 vaccination campaign to reach out to all eligible individuals and enhance the jab uptake.
County Director of Public Health and Sanitation Fredrick Oluoch has decried the low turnout of residents to be vaccinated even with the increased vaccination centres.
The heightened sensitisation exercise would be conducted through meeting specific groups of interest, vernacular radio talks, dialogue forums and the use of public places such as markets.
The awareness drive is done in collaboration with OXFAM Kenya and other health partners.
The lakeside county targets to vaccinate at least 135,000 new people during the first phase of the accelerated vaccination exercise which ends on December 21, 2021.
Oluoch attributed the vaccination apathy to lack of information among the residents.
