Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate, Ms. Martha Karua on Monday toured Kirinyaga, Thika, and Kiambu town to drum support for their presidential bid.
They were accompanied by Peter Kenneth, Jude Njomo (Kiambu) Raphael Tuju, Babu Owino (Embakasi East ), and Peter Munya among others.
Speaking, Raila Odinga warned Mt Kenya voters against electing Deputy President William Ruto, saying, he is too corrupt to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Raila said most of the problem experienced across the Country is due to William Ruto disobeying his master and engaging into corrupt exercises.
He said that he is ready to lead the people across the country especially from the Mount Kenya region.
The Azimio leader promised the region that he will complete the projects President Kenyatta began if he wins the August polls.
“I will be there for the people of Mount Kenya and Kenyans in general and I will complete all the projects that Uhuru Kenyatta has initiated,” Raila said.
He further warned the deputy president and his allies against disrespecting the head of state.
Mr. Odinga said he will delegate the role of fighting corruption to Ms. Karua in his government, citing her known record when it comes to fighting graft.
“With my sister Martha Karua, corruption will be the things of the past and I know Kenyans will enjoy our leadership and we won’t spare anyone,” he said.
Martha Karua on her part said that she has traversed across the Country and Kenyans are ready for Azimio leadership.
She said that deputy president William Ruto thought he has conquered the Mount Kenya region only for them to be proved wrong.
Ms. Karua said Mr. Odinga is a patriotic Kenyan who has supported former governments, including that of President Mwai Kibaki, and brought development to Kenya, especially on roads.
The former Justice Minister said under the Azimio administration, the corrupt and those who misuse public funds will be dealt with ruthlessly.
“Only the government of Raila Odinga will be able to tackle corruption in Kenya. Our competitors led by William Ruto can’t fight corruption because they are involved in it, “she said.
Karua said the Azimio ticket presents the best leadership team for Kenya.
She further urged politicians in Azimio eyeing the same seat to shelve their ambitions and support one candidate.
She said that in Kirinyaga County, The candidates for governor seat both in Narc Kenya and Jubilee will support one candidate.
“We don’t want internal wars within Azimio and we will field one candidate to face off with our competitors, “she said.
Former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth said that the unity of the Country is paramount and deputy president William Ruto should stop inciting Kenyans.
He said that the recent attack on Uhuru Kenyatta by his deputy was aimed to incite Kenyans.
“We will send Ruto and his allies home next and we will fight them and recover what they have stolen, “he said.
Kiambu town MP Jude Njomo also echoed Kenneth’s Sentiments and urged locals to support Raila Odinga.
Agriculture cabinet minister Peter Munya said that president Uhuru Kenyatta has been very patient with those who have been abusing him.
He said that Ruto’s move to attack Uhuru is ill and they should stop attacking anyone who doesn’t believe in their ideology.
