The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has confirmed that Charles Cheruiyot, a director of Kaplan Logistics Limited, has presented himself to the Commission for processing over an alleged KSh1.569 billion fraud involving an IFAD-funded programme.
Cheruiyot appeared at the EACC Integrity Centre on August 20, following a directive requiring suspects linked to the alleged fraudulent disbursement of funds under the IFAD-funded PROFIT Programme at the National Treasury to present themselves for processing.
According to the EACC, Cheruiyot is among suspects being investigated over the alleged loss or fraudulent disbursement of KSh1.569 billion under the programme.
The Commission said Cheruiyot presented himself voluntarily and will undergo processing ahead of his expected arraignment.
EACC has also urged other suspects named in the investigations to immediately report to its headquarters in Nairobi or the nearest regional office.
The anti-graft agency said it remains committed to protecting public resources and ensuring that individuals found responsible for the alleged loss or misappropriation of public funds are held accountable.
The PROFIT Programme is funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), with the investigations focusing on alleged fraudulent transactions involving funds administered through the National Treasury.
The development comes as the EACC intensifies investigations into suspected financial impropriety involving public funds and donor-supported government programmes.
