The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Ingonga, and the Director of the Assets Recovery Agency (ARA), Mark Ogonji, have reaffirmed their commitment to ending economic crimes and recovering illicit assets.
During a meeting with ARA officials, Mr. Ingonga highlighted the rise of economic crimes in Kenya, particularly in areas like cryptocurrency and forex trading, which have become increasingly popular. He stated that his office is working tirelessly to address these challenges.
“Our office is fully committed to handling economic and international organized crimes,” said Ingonga.
He also emphasized the need for collaboration with other agencies through joint training and capacity building to enhance their ability to trace illicit assets.
Director Mark Ogonji praised the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for its achievements in prosecuting high-profile cases, including those involving governors.
The two offices agreed on the importance of adopting a shared case management system to track progress and ensure transparency in investigations and prosecutions. They also stressed the need for increased public education on reporting economic crimes.
