Kiambu gubernatorial aspirant Hon. Mwaura on Thursday held consultations with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at his Wamunyoro residence as political alignments ahead of the 2027 General Election continue to gather momentum.
The meeting brought together the two leaders to discuss key issues affecting Kiambu County, including economic development, financial inclusion, governance and strategies aimed at reviving the region’s economy.
According to Gachagua, the discussions also touched on strengthening devolution and ensuring county governments remain at the centre of service delivery and economic transformation.
The former Deputy President said the leaders also reflected on what he described as Kenya’s liberation cause and the country’s political future as opposition forces continue to reorganize ahead of the next polls.
“At Wamunyoro Residence, I held consultations with Hon. Mwaura, one of the Kiambu County DCP Party gubernatorial aspirants, on matters concerning Kiambu County,”Gacahgua said in a statement.
Mwaura is among leaders seeking the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) ticket for the Kiambu gubernatorial race, a contest that is expected to attract significant attention as parties begin positioning themselves in one of the country’s most politically influential counties.
During the meeting, Gachagua assured the aspirant that the party would conduct free and fair nominations and pledged a level playing field for all those seeking elective positions under the DCP banner.
“I assured Hon. Mwaura of free and fair party primaries and encouraged him to continue popularizing the party at the grassroots ahead of the August 10, 2027 polls,” Gachagua said.
The consultations form part of a series of engagements being undertaken by the former Deputy President with party officials and aspirants from different regions as DCP intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.
“Consultations continue,” Gachagua added.
