Nairobi South B Member of County Assembly (MCA) Waithera Chege on Saturday evening held high-level consultations with President William Ruto, focusing on the progress and prioritisation of key development projects in South B Ward and the wider Starehe Constituency.
The discussions centred on flagship initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and urban infrastructure, including the construction of a modern market, the Mariguini Slum upgrading programme, and ongoing road works along the Golden Gate corridor, among other projects.
Sources familiar with the meeting said the engagement underscored the government’s commitment to accelerating grassroots development through collaboration with local leadership.
The projects are expected to enhance trade, improve housing conditions, and ease mobility for residents.
MCA Chege has remained vocal and consistent in advancing the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) development agenda within South B, positioning the ward as a key beneficiary of national and county-backed interventions.
Earlier in the week, the MCA hosted UDA leaders in the ward for a civic education drive, part of the party’s intensified nationwide membership recruitment campaign.
The forum focused on citizen engagement, policy awareness, and mobilisation at the grassroots level.
The consultations and outreach activities signal a renewed push to align local development priorities with the national government’s agenda, as leaders seek to translate policy into tangible outcomes for residents.
As implementation gathers pace, residents of South B are hopeful that the pledged projects will move from plans to completion, delivering long-awaited improvements across the ward.
