President William Ruto has proposed the construction of over 400 new markets across Kenya as part of a bold effort to enhance the agricultural industry and stimulate economic growth.
The program aims to improve agricultural value chains will help farmers access to a larger pool of tendency, creating more trading opportunities and increasing the income.
Ruto spoke during his recent visit to Vihiga County where he took part in ground breaking of luanda modern market, which will house more than 2000 traders.
He noted that the construction will of the market will help in connecting more farmers with more buyers and thus boosting their sales.

“These markets will be equipped with storage facilities, a big step in reducing post-harvest loses, which has been a challenge in the region,” Ruto assured.
He added that once completed, the Luanda Modern Market will be a booming centre for fresh farm produce, cereals, fish, ceramics, textiles, footwear, and a variety of home necessities.
