BIC Supports 50,000 Kenyan Students with Emotional and Financial Relief During National Exams

BIC, a world leader in stationery, lighters, and shavers, has successfully concluded a nationwide drive aimed at inspiring and supporting students during the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

The initiative, which reached 50,000 students across seven regions in Kenya, provided emotional support, motivational messages, and essential writing tools to help learners perform their best during this critical academic period.

Emphasizing BIC’s long-standing commitment to education, Paloma Lengema, General Manager, BIC East Africa, said:

“Since its inception, BIC products have been a trusted companion for students on their learning journey, including exams. National examinations represent a defining moment for young Kenyans, and we want students to know they have our support during this period and beyond.

Education is deeply embedded in BIC’s DNA — it is the foundation for progress, development, and a more prosperous future. Our collaboration with schools during this examination period reflects our dedication to empowering Kenyan youth and giving back to the communities we serve.”

As part of the initiative, students received durable school supplies designed to last throughout the exam period and beyond, along with personalized success cards featuring motivational messages. The program also sought to ease the emotional and financial strain on parents and caregivers, reaffirming BIC’s belief that education is a shared responsibility.

This initiative aligns with BIC’s global sustainable development program, Writing the Future Together, through which the company aims to improve learning conditions for 250 million students worldwide by 2025. It also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the iconic BIC Cristal ballpoint pen, a product that has played a pivotal role in democratizing education by making quality writing tools accessible to all.

Earlier this year, BIC Kenya completed the fifth editions of its “Buy Me and BIC Will Donate a Pen” and “Express Myself with My BIC Pen” programs — initiatives that have collectively supported hundreds of teachers and impacted more than 80,000 students to date.

Through these ongoing efforts, BIC Kenya continues to champion education and inspire the next generation of learners across the country.
