Coast Leaders Rally Residents to Register as Voters

For many families along Kenya’s Coast, development is measured not by political speeches but by improved roads, reliable healthcare, quality education and economic opportunities that enhance everyday life.

This message dominated a leaders’ meeting in Kinango Constituency, where residents were urged to register as voters and play an active role in shaping the region’s future.

Speaking during a grassroots engagement in Kinango, leaders led by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani, Kinango MP Gonzi Rai, and other local leaders said the Coast Region had recorded significant development progress under President William Ruto’s administration.

They urged residents to remain united to sustain the region’s development momentum and strengthen its influence in national decision-making.

The leaders said cooperation among the Coastal counties was essential in ensuring the region continued to benefit from development projects and received greater consideration in national planning.

They also encouraged all eligible citizens to register as voters ahead of the next General Election, arguing that increased voter participation would give the Coast a stronger voice in determining the country’s political and development agenda.

For many young people in the region, the call to register served as a reminder that voting is not only a constitutional right but also an opportunity to influence decisions affecting employment, education, infrastructure and economic growth.

The leaders further maintained that continued cooperation between the national and county governments would accelerate inclusive development across the Coast and ensure communities benefit from improved public services and expanded economic opportunities.

As residents listened to the leaders’ messages in Kinango, one theme remained clear: the future of the Coast depends not only on government programmes but also on the active participation of its people.

By registering as voters and maintaining regional unity, the leaders said, Coastal communities could play a stronger role in shaping their development priorities and securing a more prosperous future for generations to come.
