The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested Samuel Kariuki Ngaanga, the Bomet County Director of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), for allegedly soliciting and receiving a bribe of KES 25,000.
The bribe was reportedly demanded to allow a lodging facility in Mulot Township to continue operating without the necessary Effluent Discharge License and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA).

The Commission received a report of the bribery allegations on 22nd July 2025, and a subsequent operation led to Ngaanga’s arrest in Bomet town while receiving the cash.
The suspect was taken to Bomet Police Station for interviews, processing, and statement recording. He was charged with soliciting and receiving a bribe and released on KES 30,000 cash bail pending the outcome of the ongoing inquiry.
EACC reiterated its commitment to combating bribery at service delivery points to restore public trust and ensure citizens have access to quality services.
