Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira has urged young people across the country to take full advantage of government programs designed to empower them economically and technically.
Speaking at Kahunguini Primary School in Gatundu South Constituency during the Jamii Imara Mashinani forum, Wachira said the initiative is part of the government’s plan to engage citizens directly and ensure every community experiences the tangible benefits of national development.
“The Jamii Imara Mashinani initiative is a people-centered platform that captures community voices, highlights opportunities, and ensures that every citizen feels the real impact of development at the grassroots,” Wachira said.

The PS encouraged the youth to enroll in the ongoing Nyota Program, which targets small businesses and skilled individuals for empowerment and certification.
He said the program aims to boost productivity, expand access to job opportunities, and drive sustainable economic growth across all counties.
“I encourage the youth to actively participate in the Nyota Program. It seeks to empower businesses and provide certification to skilled individuals, enhancing productivity, creating opportunities, and fueling economic growth,” he said.
Wachira further underscored the importance of reliable and affordable energy in driving Kenya’s bottom-up economic transformation agenda, adding that the government continues to invest heavily in rural electrification and renewable energy projects to reach underserved areas.

“When we power homes, schools, and businesses, we are powering Kenya’s future,” he added.
During the same event, Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome lauded the Jamii Imara Mashinani initiative as a model for citizen engagement, urging leaders to work together for the region’s continued progress.
She noted that the Mount Kenya region has benefited immensely from ongoing infrastructure, agriculture, and digital transformation projects under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“Our region is growing because of focused leadership. Let us continue supporting the President’s development vision instead of being distracted by divisive politics,” Wahome said.
Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura echoed the sentiments, emphasizing that the administration remains focused on service delivery and transparency.
“Our message to Kenyans is simple — focus on the facts. The roads, schools, hospitals, and jobs being created are proof that the government is delivering real change,” Mwaura said.
