Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of gospel musician Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, popularly known as Betty Bayo.
In a statement, Gachagua described the news of her death as “heartbreaking and devastating” for both him and the entire nation. He praised Bayo’s extraordinary talent, noting that her beautifully crafted lyrics and charitable efforts had touched countless lives and transformed communities.

“I join our fellow countrymen and women, as well as the entire creative industry, in mourning the loss of a legend,” Gachagua said. He extended heartfelt condolences to the late musician’s family, asking for strength from the Almighty during this difficult time.
Betty Bayo, whose music inspired hope and resilience for over 15 years, leaves behind a legacy of faith, uplifting melodies, and a profound impact on Kenya’s gospel music scene. Gachagua concluded his statement praying that her soul may rest in eternal peace.
