Kalonzo Is the Next President, Mt. Kenya Senator Declares in Machakos

Nyandarua Senator John Methu has declared unwavering support from Mt. Kenya for Wiper Party Leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, calling him the region’s preferred presidential candidate for 2027.

Speaking during a funeral service in Kathiani Constituency, Senator Methu—who is also a senior leader allied toFormer Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua—said the mountain is “solidly behind Kalonzo,” adding that the former Vice President embodies national unity and statesmanship.

The funeral was for the late Juliana Mumbua Mutevu, sister to Machakos MCA Anastascia Nundu.

National Assembly Deputy Minority Leader Hon. Robert Mbui also used the platform to shoot down reports claiming Kalonzo was recently appointed as a Special Envoy by President William Ruto.

“You’ve heard our Party Leader say ‘Wantam is not just a reality—it’s an eventuality,’” said Mbui. “What kind of special envoy says that? This so-called appointment is fake news, clearly meant to derail focus. Kalonzo will be the next president of Kenya.”

Machakos Woman Representative Joyce Kamene, Kajiado North MP, and Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Mwangangi were also in attendance.

DG Mwangangi delivered Dr. Musyoka’s condolence message to the bereaved family, emphasizing Kalonzo’s continued commitment to standing with the people of Machakos and beyond.

In his message, Dr. Musyoka thanked elected leaders for standing firm in their roles within the United Opposition movement.
“You have demonstrated what a United Patriotic Front means,” the message read. “Your presence and efforts are not in vain—Kenya is watching.”
