Kenya Railways has announced additional Madaraka Express passenger services on the Nairobi-Mombasa route to accommodate increased demand.
The national rail operator said an additional train will depart from the Mombasa Terminus at 8:40 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026.
On Tuesday, September 1, another special train will leave the Nairobi Terminus at 9:40 a.m., while a further service will depart from Mombasa Terminus at 4:30 p.m.
The additional services are available for booking, with Kenya Railways urging passengers to secure their seats early.
The move is expected to provide more travel options for passengers using the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), particularly amid increased movement between the two cities.
Kenya Railways has also cautioned passengers against fraudsters and urged them to make bookings only through its official channels.
Passengers can book by dialling *639# on their mobile phones or by visiting any Madaraka Express Passenger Service station.
The additional services come as the railway operator continues to rely on the SGR as a key passenger and freight link between Nairobi and the Coast.
