Kenya has reaffirmed its commitment to fiscal sustainability and the domestic financing of priority health programs during high-level talks with the Global Fund.
Principal Secretary for the National Treasury, Dr Chris Kiptoo, represented Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi at the meeting chaired by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and attended by Principal Secretary for Public Health, Mary Muthoni.
The discussions highlighted Kenya’s 24-year strategic partnership with the Global Fund, which has mobilized over 2.1 billion US dollars to support national health programs and strengthen health systems.
A key focus of the meeting was operationalizing Kenya’s KES 12.3 billion co-financing commitment and advancing innovative financing mechanisms that emphasize prudent fiscal management, accountability, and sustainability of essential health services.
Officials said the engagement underlines Kenya’s determination to secure long-term funding for priority health initiatives while maintaining fiscal discipline and strengthening health system efficiency.
