Former Nairobi Governor and National Economic Development Party (NEDP) leader Mike Sonko has issued a stern warning to aspirants and the public against false claims of direct nominations within the party.
Speaking on the matter, Sonko made it clear that NEDP will not allow any shortcuts in the nomination process.
“There will be NO direct nominations in our party. We believe in true democracy. All aspirants must go to the ground, mobilize voters, and be nominated through a fair and open process,” Sonko said.
He emphasized that the party belongs to all Kenyans, not a few officials, and vowed that anyone attempting to mislead aspirants will face disciplinary action.
The warning comes after reports that some individuals were falsely promising guaranteed nominations to NEDP candidates. Sonko’s statement reinforces the party’s commitment to transparency and grassroots participation in line with democratic principles.
