Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has given a progress report on the implementation of education reforms in Kenya, focusing on various key areas within the sector.
While speaking in Karen, Nairobi, the CS stated, “The government is following through on all the commitments made under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).”
Mr. Ogamba further noted that the government plans to employ 76,000 teachers as part of the overall target of 116,000 teachers by the year 2027.
“There will be a system to recognize prior learning, as well as the implementation of a dual training policy in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions,” added the CS.
He also announced that each county will have a National Polytechnic. This initiative aims to reduce the increasing competition and complexity in the education sector and support a smooth transition to the Junior Secondary School curriculum.
The CS concluded by saying, “There will be a review of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), which will be enacted after public input.”
