Kenya has emerged as a tourism powerhouse, taking center stage at the prestigious 2025 World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony during a ceremony held over the weekend in Dar Es salaam Tanzania.
The event, which brought together all the African nations, gave Kenya an opportunity to reaffirm its status as a top-tier travel destination, from luxury and conservation to innovation in hospitality and air travel.
From the conservation sites to hotels, all the highly decorated awards rubber stamping the great work being done by Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano.
While congratulating the winners and awardees CS Miano pledged Government’s support in formulating policies that support the Tourism Industry.
She further emphasized the importance of peace for a thriving tourism sector and called for collective efforts to ensure that our tourism industry remains a beacon of opportunity for generations to come.In the conservation and safari sector, Kenya stood tall with Ol Pejeta Conservancy winning Africa’s Leading Conservation Company, while Safari.com was named Africa’s Leading Safari Company. The iconic JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge received the title of Africa’s Leading Tented Safari Camp. Within the country, Twiga Tours won Kenya’s Leading Safari Company, Governors’ Camp Collection earned Kenya’s Leading Safari Camp Brand, and Mara Serena Safari Lodge was crowned Kenya’s Leading Safari Lodge. Sarova Mara Game Camp also secured Kenya’s Leading Tented Safari Camp.
In the hospitality and luxury accommodation category, Kenya dazzled with Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club winning Africa’s Leading Hotel, and Tribe Hotel being recognized as Africa’s Leading Design Hotel. Baobab Beach Resort & Spa took home Africa’s Leading Family Resort, while Diamonds Leisure Beach & Golf Resort earned Africa’s Leading Resort and Kenya’s Leading Resort. The Residences at Leopard Beach Resort & Spa was awarded Africa’s Leading Hotel Residences, and Sirai House and Sirai Beach were named Africa’s Leading Luxury Private Villa and Kenya’s Leading Luxury Private Villa, respectively. The coastal gem Chale Island was named Africa’s Leading Private Island Resort, and Ocean Sports Resort was honored as Africa’s Leading Sports Resort.
Within national hotel awards, Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi Upper Hill won Kenya’s Leading Hotel and Kenya’s Leading Conference Hotel, while JW Marriott Hotel Nairobi received Kenya’s Leading Luxury Hotel and Kenya’s Leading Hotel Residences. The Presidential Suite at Villa Rosa Kempinski was named Kenya’s Leading Hotel Suite. Other standout winners included The Social House as Kenya’s Leading Boutique Hotel, Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort & Spa as Kenya’s Leading Beach Resort, Mnarani Beach Club as Kenya’s Leading Family Resort, and PrideInn Azure Hotel Nairobi, Westlands as Kenya’s Leading Business Hotel.
In the aviation and transport sector, Kenya celebrated major victories with Msafiri, the Kenya Airways inflight magazine, winning Africa’s Leading Inflight Magazine, and Jambojet taking home Africa’s Leading Low-Cost Airline. AirKenya was named Kenya’s Leading Domestic Safari Carrier, while Avis and Lesus Executive Concierge earned titles for Kenya’s Leading Car Rental Company and Kenya’s Leading Chauffeur Company, respectively.
Kenya also demonstrated strength in travel services and tour operations. Pollman’s Tours & Safaris won Kenya’s Leading Tour Operator and also clinched Africa’s Leading Tour Operator. Bonfire Adventures was honored as Kenya’s Leading Travel Agency, Go Places Africa DMC as Kenya’s Leading Destination Management Company, Viutravel as Kenya’s Leading Online Travel Agency, and ATS Travel took the title of Kenya’s Leading Travel Management Company.
With over 30 prestigious awards, Kenya proved itself not just as a destination—but as a world-class travel experience. From the wild savannahs of the Maasai Mara to the serene coastline of Diani and the elegance of Nairobi’s top hotels, Kenya continues to define excellence in African tourism.
