Kiambu County has achieved a historic revenue milestone, generating Ksh 5.4 billion in own-source revenue for the 2024–2025 financial year without increasing taxes, fees, or levies.
Governor Kimani Wamatangi attributed the success to the county’s fully automated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, which has streamlined service delivery and boosted transparency.
Speaking during the county’s Own Source Revenue (OSR) conference held on Thursday, Governor Wamatangi said the digitized revenue systems have enabled the county to optimize collections while reducing leakages and inefficiencies.

“This achievement is proof that when systems work, citizens benefit. We did not burden residents with new levies—we simply sealed the gaps, automated services, and held people accountable,” said Wamatangi.
The funds, he said, have been directed toward key development priorities across the county.
These include the completion of 312 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centers, a comprehensive feeding program for over 39,000 ECDE learners, and an increase in bursary allocation from Ksh 100 million to Ksh 500 million annually.

In the health sector, Kiambu has constructed 32 hospitals, expanded access to primary care, and equipped facilities across sub-counties.
The county has also enhanced infrastructure by installing solar streetlights, constructing modern markets, and rolling out agricultural support programs benefiting over 700,000 farmers.
Governor Wamatangi said the OSR conference served as a platform to evaluate the gains made, address emerging challenges, and plan strategically for the new financial year.
“Our focus now is to build on this momentum. The goal is not just revenue collection, but improved service delivery and shared prosperity for the people of Kiambu,” he added.
