LG Electronics (LG) has today announced a series of initiatives designed to strengthen future growth engines, enhance organizational agility and reinforce leadership continuity as the company advances its mid- to long-term strategy.
The announcements come as LG continues to deepen its footprint in the broader East African region, where rising demand for energy-efficient appliances, advanced HVAC systems and connected technologies is creating new opportunities for innovation and customer-focused solutions.
The new engines will accelerate development in high-potential business domains including HVAC, webOS and robotics.
Within the Home Appliance Solution (HS) Company, the new HS B2B Overseas Sales Division will focus on expanding global built-in and builder-oriented business, while the Built-in/Cooking Business Division will be elevated to a full Business to support continued category growth.
The company will also establish the HS Robotics Lab, integrating select functions from the Chief Technology Office’s Advanced Robotics Lab. Research Fellow Lee Jae-wook, who previously led the Humanoid Robot Task, will head this new organization.
Within the Media Entertainment Solution (MS) Company, the TV and IT businesses will be integrated into a single Display Business, supported by a new Display Product Development Group to enhance product competitiveness. The webOS Advertisement Business Department will be elevated to a Business to further strengthen support for the expansion of webOS-based service operations.
Meanwhile, the Eco Solution (ES) Company will launch an Applied Business Division dedicated to HVAC solutions for data center cooling, ventilation, refrigeration and nuclear power. To support localized, end-to-end overseas operations, it will also establish an ES M&A Division and an ES Overseas Sales Division.
In the Chief Technology Office, LG will form the HS Advanced Research Lab to strengthen fundamental technology competitiveness, while a new Next-Generation Computing Lab will focus on advancements in quantum computing, distributed computing and next-generation security technologies.
Companywide AI transformation will be driven by the new AX Center, created through the integration of the DX Center and the Business Process Innovation Division. Led by senior vice president Cho Jung-bum, formerly head of the DX Center, the AX Center will spearhead AI adoption to enhance operational efficiency, advance R&D and reinforce employee capabilities.
These initiatives align with LG’s 2026 organizational restructuring, which focuses on enhancing efficiency, accelerating decision-making and supporting the company’s long-term portfolio strategy. LG will maintain its four-Company structure to preserve agility and accountability at the Company level, while integrating similar and adjacent functions to streamline operations and improve execution. Executive vice president Baek Seung-tae, formerly head of the Kitchen Solutions Business, will take leadership of the HS Company.
Baek has strengthened global competitiveness in both the Living Solutions and Kitchen Solutions businesses and is well positioned to advance global production strategies amid changing market conditions. The heads of the MS, Vehicle Solution (VS) and ES Companies will remain in their roles to ensure continuity and strategic momentum.
The company also detailed key leadership transitions and appointments. Lyu Jae-cheol will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer effective December 1. Mr. Lyu, who has successfully led the HS Company, has driven sustainable growth by expanding B2B operations, growing subscription-based and direct-to-consumer business models, and strengthening LG’s competitive position in home appliances.
As CEO, he will focus on extending LG’s market-leading DNA in differentiated customer value across the entire organization to further enhance competitiveness and growth potential. Having joined Goldstar (now LG Electronics) in 1989 as a researcher in the Home Appliance Research Center, he has spent nearly half of his career in home appliance R&D, bringing deep technical expertise that has informed his leadership approach. Since 2021, he has guided LG to become the global No. 1 home appliance brand while expanding portfolio opportunities in appliance subscriptions, online channels and B2B solutions.
William Cho will step down after a four-year tenure as CEO during which he laid a strong foundation for sustainable growth. A 37-year LG veteran, Mr. Cho expanded the company’s business beyond home appliances into new sectors including mobility and commercial spaces and established a mid- to long-term vision to transform LG into a Smart Life Solution Company. His strategic direction, emphasizing performance in core businesses, growth in B2B and D2C areas, expansion into high-potential Global South markets and exploration of new business domains, forms a key part of LG’s future growth strategy.
To further drive momentum in LG’s two key B2B pillars—vehicle solutions and HVAC—the company has promoted Eun Seok-hyun, head of the VS Company, and James Lee, head of the ES Company, to president. Additionally, Kwack Do-yeong, who brings extensive sales and strategic experience from the HS Company and a deep understanding of global markets, has been appointed Region Representative of LG Electronics North America and head of LG Electronics USA.
All appointments and structural changes take effect December 1, 2025, with promotions effective January 1, 2026.
