Popular Mugithi artiste Waithaka Wa Jane was briefly detained in Germany after airport police received a tip-off from a local promoter, sources indicate.
According to reports shared by Kamaeme FM presenter Muthoni wa Kirumba, Waithaka was arrested upon arrival and held for nearly five hours, during which he was subjected to an invasive search after being accused of being a “drug trafficker.”
The promoter, identified as Joseph Kamau alias Kamau Rafikis, is allegedly said to have contacted German authorities with the allegation, prompting the arrest.
Waithaka was allegedly forced to strip naked as officers conducted a thorough search before eventually clearing him.

In addition to the incident at the airport, Rafikis reportedly attempted to sabotage the artiste’s scheduled performance by calling the event host to deny Waithaka and his team access to the venue.
He is also accused of spreading claims that the show had been cancelled and that the singer should be deported.
Despite the ordeal, Waithaka Wa Jane was later released, and efforts were underway to clarify the status of his shows in Germany.
