A group of ODM grassroots officials from Kileleshwa Ward have today vehemently dismissed claims by local MCA Robert Alai that no elections were conducted in the area, daring the legislator and his supporters to leave the party if they are dissatisfied.
In a press conference held at Chungwa House, the officials presented a united front, directly refuting Alai’s assertions and accusing him of attempting to destabilize the party.
“We want to tell them that if they are tired of being members of ODM, they are free to leave,” a spokesperson for the group stated. “We cannot sit back and allow them to wreck the party in Kileleshwa.”
The officials expressed profound gratitude to the ODM Party leadership, lauding the grassroots elections as a success. They described the process as “free and fair” and noted its transparent conduct through the open-air Mlolongo system.
“We want to thank the ODM Party for doing an incredible job,” they added. “The elections were free and fair, and the entire process was conducted transparently through the Mlolongo system. The elected officials are present here today.”
The newly elected officials, now with their mandate confirmed, are eligible to participate in the forthcoming constituency-level party elections. This public display of defiance against Alai’s claims underscores the deep internal divisions and power struggles within the ODM party as it prepares for higher-level party polls. The confrontation highlights the significant challenge the party faces in maintaining unity amid ongoing grassroots disputes.
