ODM party drops its Embakasi North candidate for Wangoro Mwangi Jubilee

ODM Embakasi North parliamentary candidate Jane Muringi has been prevailed upon to step down for Jubilee Party’s Harrison Wangoro to take on United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate and incumbent James Gakuya.

This was revealed by ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna on Saturday during a grassroots mobilization rally in the region.

Ms. Jane according to Edwin Sifuna was promised a prime job in the Azimio government once Raila Odinga wins the election.

Edwin Sifuna was accompanied by Azimio governor candidate Polycarp Igathe, Beatrice Elachi, Philip Kaloki, and Rechel Shebesh among others.

Sifuna rallied ODM supporters from the region to campaign and support Wangoro Mwangi terming him the best candidate for Raila Odinga and Azimio la Umoja.

The new development follows the resolution of the Azimio Coalition Council meeting on Friday last week, which established a committee to harmonize and rationalize the outfit’s candidates in areas where multiple candidates are likely to cost the coalition party seats.

“Raila Odinga has sent me a message to ODM Jane Muringi to step down on behalf of Wangoro Mwangi (Jubilee) and we will slot her for another job in Raila Odinga secretariat,” Sifuna said.

He said the member parties of Azimio have agreed to respect zoning criteria agreed upon by the outfit.

Earlier this year, ODM and Jubilee shared every 8 constituencies while Wiper was accorded one.

Speaking to Star, Jubilee candidate for Embakasi North Wangoro Mwangi hailed ODM leadership for respecting the agreed memorandum.

He said that he will traverse the whole of Nairobi campaigning for his bid and that of Raila Odinga.

“I’m very happy for our brothers in ODM as they respect the spirit of Azimio la Umoja and for My sister Jane Muringi, we will work together to make the lives of our people better,’ Wangoro said.

Elsewhere, Azimio has endorsed Mathare MP Anthony Oluoch (ODM) after Musician Bahati was requested to step down.

In Embakasi South, Former MP Irshad Sumra (ODM_ has agreed to step down for Wiper’s Julius Mawathe.
