Over 200,000 Kiambu residents expected to be vaccinated against Covid-19

Over 200,000 Kiambu residents are expected to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in the next two days.

Kiambu Governor H.E. James Nyoro, who today launched mass vaccination in Thika Sub-County, encouraged every resident to get the jab, seeing a majority of those who have died of Covid-19 are those who were unvaccinated.

The vaccination exercise which started in Thika town is targeting service providers.

The exercise will be taken to the grassroot level, closer to the people – to ensure over 1.4M residents in Kiambu County are vaccinated.The County targets to vaccinate 80% of its population by December this year.

People are also encouraged to get rapid testing in any of the health facilities in Kiambu.

Kiambu County has the second highest number of Covid-19 infections after Nairobi County. However, the County has dedicated Tigoni Hospital as the Kiambu County Covid-19 Center, with over 1500 Covid-19 patients treated at the facility and are now fully recovered.

Also present was the Health CECM Dr Joseph Murega, Health Chief Officer Dr Patrick Nyaga, Kamenu Ward MCA Raphael Chege, Thika Hospital Ward MCA Hudson Mburu, Ngoliba Ward MCA Joachim Mwangi among other local leaders, administrators and area residents.
