Nairobi and Tokyo are exploring areas of collaboration in disaster management and urban planning.
Nairobi City County Deputy Governor Njoroge Muchiri held discussions with a team from Tokyo Metropolitan Government who paid courtesy to county offices in City Hall Nairobi.
Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been implementing a joint project on the use of start up solutions in urban challenges,flood control in Nairobi as part of their overseas urban course they are undertaking from April 2024 to March 2025.
The Tokyo team made brief presentations on five start up solutions which could be applied to mitigate disasters in the County , including disaster management using drones, transformation of human security with drone and image analysis AI and Location AI platform for flood preparedness and data collection and efficiency.
Muchiri said Nairobi will continue adopting the best practices from first world cities to conform to the rapidly changing demands for modest and well planned capital cities.
Also in the meeting was County Secretary Mr. Godfrey Akumali ,County Chief officer for Disaster management Mr.Bramwel Simiyu and County Chief officer Digital Economy and Startups Mr .Sande Oyolo.
