Joy and excitement filled the Eastlands Chokaa area over the weekend as young creatives gathered for a talent showcase aimed at nurturing and empowering upcoming artists.
The event was spearheaded by Patron Peter Selenyi and attended by Economic and Empowerment Advisor Jaoko Oburu. It attracted dozens of youth who demonstrated their abilities in art, music, and performance, with several receiving gifts to support their craft.
Selenyi described the initiative as an important milestone in building opportunities for young people in Eastlands.
“We have started well and we shall continue,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to the long-term development of talent in the area. “Our aim is to make sure that they get the best.”
Advisor Oburu, who represented government interests in youth and economic empowerment, lauded the displays of creativity and promised further support.
“We are happy with what is happening here, and actually what has been showcased is good,” he said. Oburu added that the government’s youth empowerment agenda would extend to such grassroots initiatives, pledging to secure “the same presidential support” for artists and projects emerging from the community.
With strong backing from both a dedicated patron and government representatives, the event’s success signaled a promising future for young creatives in Chokaa. Many participants expressed hope that such initiatives would open doors to wider platforms and sustainable growth in the arts.
