The prosecution against suspects facing graft charges in the alleged loss of Sh2.5 billion Lake Basin Mall scam will now proceed after the High Court dismissed a request to quash trial of two contractors.

When the matter came up for mention yesterday, Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti  was informed that High Court Judge James Wakiaga last week rejected a request to quash prosecution against multi-billion shilling real estate company Edermann Properties Limited and two of its directors Zeyun Yang and Zhang Jing.

The magistrate, however, directed that the case be heard before trial Magistrate Kagure Nyutu on November 2.

In May, High Court had suspended the prosecution of the firm and its directors who are charged alongside former Kisumu Speaker Onyango Oloo, former LBDA boss Peter Aguko, Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri and eight others at the chief magistrate courts pending determination of the petition by the two directors.
