Kenya has confirmed its ninth Ebola case, as health officials continue to monitor people who may have been exposed to the virus.
The Ministry of Health confirmed the latest case on October 20, saying the patient was a close family member of the first confirmed case. The patient was already in quarantine when they tested positive.

Health Director-General Dr Patrick Amoth said all nine confirmed cases were linked to the same cluster, with no evidence of the virus spreading beyond the group.
“All nine cases belong to one cluster, and as of today there is no evidence of transmission outside this group,” Amtober 20, health officials had identified 135 contacts, with 134 placed in quarantine for monitoring. The exercise is aimed at detecting any new infections early and preventing further spread of the virus.
The government is continuing to strengthen disease surveillance, trace people who may have been exposed and ensure confirmed cases are isolated.
Members of the public have been urged to remain alert, follow guidance from health authorities and seek medical attention if they develop symptoms that raise concern.
Health officials continue to monitor the situation as efforts to contain the outbreak remain underway.
