A bodaboda rider, Yusuf Suleiman Hamisi, has filed a lawsuit against Paul Otuoma, accusing the county boss of assault and seeking Sh100 million in compensation.
In the suit, Hamisi alleges that the governor struck him in the groin during an altercation, causing him serious physical pain and emotional distress. He claims the incident has adversely affected his ability to work and sustain his livelihood as a rider.
According to court documents, the incident reportedly occurred within Busia County under circumstances that are now the subject of legal scrutiny. Hamisi contends that the alleged assault was unprovoked and is seeking damages for medical expenses, loss of income and psychological suffering.
The case has drawn attention due to the high-profile nature of the respondent, with Governor Otuoma yet to publicly respond to the allegations at the time of filing the suit.
Legal experts note that if the claims are proven in court, the case could have significant implications, both financially and politically, for the governor.
The matter is expected to proceed through the courts as investigations and hearings get underway.
