Several political parties, including Chama Cha Mashinani, the Kenya Union Party (KUP), the Democratic Party, and the Kenya African National Union (KANU), on Monday formally joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
The announcement was made during the UDA National Governing Council (NGC) meeting held at State House, Nairobi, which was attended by President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, and senior party leaders.

Addressing the meeting, President Ruto acknowledged the presence of leaders from the parties that had folded into UDA.
“I can see Isaac Ruto, Senator Mundigi from the Democratic Party, and leaders from KANU among others who are now with us,” the President said.

The decision by the parties to join UDA is viewed as a significant boost to the ruling party’s national reach and grassroots support as it intensifies preparations for the 2027 General Election.

Party officials said the move reflects growing confidence in UDA’s leadership and its political agenda, with expectations that the expanded alliance will strengthen the party’s position across the country.
