The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested an auditor attached to the North Rift Valley Development Water Agency over allegations of soliciting a KSh 400,000 bribe from a contractor in exchange for a favourable audit report.
The suspect, identified as Michael Maleya Omondi, was arrested in Eldoret following a complaint that he had demanded the money to influence the outcome of an ongoing audit exercise.
According to the Commission, investigators mounted an operation after receiving the complaint, during which the auditor was allegedly caught upon receiving the KSh 400,000 from the complainant.

Following the arrest, the suspect was processed at the EACC North Rift Regional Office and released on a cash bail of KSh 100,000 pending the conclusion of investigations and possible further legal action.
The Commission stated that the arrest is part of ongoing efforts to curb corruption within public institutions and reinforce accountability in public service.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission reiterated its commitment to strengthening integrity in public affairs management and warned public officers against engaging in bribery or abuse of office.
