EACC Steps Up Anti-Corruption Campaign at KEBS

The fight against corruption in public institutions is receiving renewed attention, with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) engaging senior officials at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) on the need to strengthen integrity and accountability.

The EACC held a sensitization workshop with the KEBS Director General and other directors, focusing on ways of preventing corruption and promoting ethical conduct within the institution.

The meeting highlighted the importance of having strong systems that can identify and address corruption risks before they affect service delivery to Kenyans.

The EACC has continued to encourage professionals in both public and private institutions to take an active role in the fight against corruption.

“We invite professionals to join in the fight against corruption. I kindly urge you to be ethical and active participants in this fight,” said Dr. Josphine Monyi, Head of the National Integrity Academy, during an earlier EACC integrity training programme.

The Commission says the fight against corruption should not only focus on dealing with wrongdoing after it has occurred. Institutions also need to identify weaknesses in their systems and put measures in place to prevent abuse of office.

For KEBS, the engagement provides an opportunity for its leadership and staff to reflect on how ethical practices can be strengthened in their day-to-day operations.

The EACC continues to use training programmes and engagements with public institutions to promote a culture where integrity, transparency and accountability are part of everyday operations.

The Commission says the active participation of professionals and public officers remains essential in building institutions that serve Kenyans responsibly and maintain public trust.
