A former journalist, Kobia Koome, has officially declared his bid for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat for Mikinduri Ward in Meru County ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Koome, who is seeking to represent residents of Mikinduri Ward, unveiled his development agenda anchored on transparency, accountability, and community-driven leadership.
In his campaign message, he pledged to align his leadership with the goals of Kenya Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16, which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions.
Among his key promises is the promotion of open governance through regular public participation forums, aimed at giving wananchi a greater voice in decision-making processes.

He also committed to establishing a Ward Development Oversight Committee that will bring together local leaders, including administrators, religious figures, and community representatives, to monitor the implementation of development projects.
Koome noted that the committee will play a critical role in ensuring accountability and proper utilization of public resources, as well as tracking progress on key projects within the ward.

The aspiring MCA emphasized that his leadership will focus on improving livelihoods, enhancing service delivery, and ensuring that development initiatives directly benefit residents at the grassroots level.
His entry into the race is expected to intensify political competition in Mikinduri Ward as aspirants begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.
