Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has formally written to Uhuru Kenyatta seeking clarification on the direction of the Jubilee Party ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In the letter addressed to the former President in his capacity as Party Leader, Wambugu raises concerns over what he describes as growing confusion and dissatisfaction among party members and aspirants across the country.
The former legislator questions the apparent absence of strong Jubilee Party branding during recent political engagements, arguing that the lack of visible merchandise such as branded T-shirts and caps has created perceptions that the party may either be facing internal challenges or informally ceding certain regions to other political formations.

Wambugu further seeks clarity on whether Jubilee has entered into any formal or informal political cooperation framework with other parties that could affect aspirants seeking to run for various elective positions in 2027.

He asks the leadership to disclose whether there are negotiated zoning arrangements and the basis upon which such decisions may have been made.
“It is critical for aspirants and grassroots organizers to know whether there have been negotiated arrangements with other parties to avoid investing time and resources in areas already ceded,” he notes in the letter.

On the presidential race, Wambugu calls for a definitive position from the party regarding its 2027 candidate. He specifically seeks to know whether Dr. Matiang’i is Jubilee’s sole and exclusive presidential flagbearer and, if so, how that decision was arrived at within the party’s constitutional and democratic framework.
He maintains that internal debate and accountability should not be viewed as rebellion but as essential elements of a healthy democratic political party.

The letter also discloses the formation of the Jubilee Aspirants Forum 2027, a platform bringing together individuals intending to vie for seats under the party’s ticket.
According to Wambugu, the forum aims to strengthen internal democracy, coordinate aspirants, and advocate for fair and transparent nomination processes.
