The government has announced several development projects for Nyandarua High School in a move aimed at improving education infrastructure in the region.
Speaking during the school’s Education Day, Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba and Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano unveiled a series of projects targeting learning facilities, transport and road infrastructure.
Among the projects announced are the construction of a new administration block, a girls’ ablution block, tarmacking of the 800-metre access road leading to the school, construction of a perimeter fence and the supply of 100 computers.
The leaders also revealed plans to partner with the school’s alumni to purchase a Scania school bus to address transport challenges facing students.
CS Miano further pledged to support the construction of a bus shed requested by the local community.
Speaking during the event, Miano said the government was committed to improving learning conditions and ensuring schools in Nyandarua compete favourably with top institutions across the country.
She urged residents to continue supporting government programmes, saying more development projects would be rolled out through cooperation between the community and the national government.
On his part, CS Ogamba said the provision of computers forms part of the government’s broader digital learning agenda aimed at equipping learners with modern technological skills.
He added that improving school infrastructure would help create a conducive environment for students and teachers while boosting academic performance.
Residents and education stakeholders welcomed the projects, saying they would greatly improve learning conditions and infrastructure at the school.
