Makadara parliamentary aspirant Irungu Nyakera has pledged to prioritise cleaner markets, improved drainage and better trading conditions for businesses in the constituency if elected in the 2027 General Election.
Nyakera said clean and properly maintained markets are essential to creating a better environment for both traders and their customers, linking improved sanitation to the growth of local businesses.
“Tusafishe soko zetu tuimalishe biashara Makadara,” Nyakera said, outlining his vision for cleaner markets and stronger businesses across Makadara.
He identified water, cleanliness and functional drainage systems as key priorities for improving trading spaces and ensuring that traders and customers can operate in a safe and clean environment.
According to Nyakera, addressing drainage challenges would also help reduce the disruption caused by stagnant water and poor waste management in market areas, issues that can affect businesses and discourage customers.
The aspirant said improving market infrastructure should form part of a broader effort to support small businesses and create more favourable conditions for traders to grow their enterprises.
