Iran says Kenya not a target as it seeks revenge after attack by US, Israel

Iran has sought to calm concerns over reports suggesting it could target Kenya as tensions intensify between Tehran, Washington and Tel Aviv.

Speaking during a press briefing in Nairobi on Monday, Iran’s Ambassador to Kenya, Dr Ali Gholampour, assured the country that it is not a potential target in the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel. He stated that Kenya does not host any US military facility with the capacity to launch attacks against Iran.

His remarks come amid heightened hostilities in the Middle East, where Iran has launched retaliatory strikes following attacks by the United States and Israel that reportedly killed its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, along with several senior government officials.

In the unfolding escalation, Iranian missiles have struck targets in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain. The latest round of violence began on Saturday after coordinated strikes by the US and Israel targeted key Iranian officials.

Ambassador Gholampour reiterated that Kenya does not house a US military installation of significant strategic value that would warrant any form of attack. While strongly condemning the actions by Washington and Tel Aviv, he maintained that Kenya is not in Iran’s crosshairs.
