Kenya bans drones in Naivasha during WRC safari rally 2026

The Ministry of Interior and National Administration has banned the use of drones in designated areas within Naivasha and surrounding locations during the WRC Safari Rally Kenya 2026 as part of enhanced spectator safety measures ahead of the event.

In a spectator safety advisory issued before the rally, the ministry said the use of unauthorised drones will not be permitted in specified areas and urged the public to adhere to safety guidelines throughout the competition.

The advisory outlines several measures for fans planning to attend the rally stages.

According to the ministry, spectators are required to follow instructions from marshals and security officers and to watch the rally only from designated spectator zones. Members of the public have also been encouraged to arrive early, noting that roads leading to rally stages will be closed before the competition begins.

The notice further advises fans to stand well away from rally roads and to park vehicles only in approved areas.

Spectators are also encouraged to carry drinking water, sun protection and comfortable footwear while ensuring waste is disposed of responsibly to protect the environment. The ministry also urged fans to respect local communities and property in areas hosting the rally.

At the same time, authorities warned against several activities during the event.

Spectators have been instructed not to stand on the rally road or cross it during a live stage and not to enter restricted or unsafe areas. Blocking access routes meant for emergency vehicles is also strictly prohibited.
