Kenya Meat Commission says it has no records of the Sh640.2 million loan advanced to the institution by the National Treasury.

Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee yesterday, KMC Managing Director Brigadier James Githaga told MPs that the only records they have are for Sh300 million that Treasury issued in the years 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 for the emergency animal off-take programme.

Auditor General has confirmed that KMC was advanced Sh940.2 million by Treasury for various projects, which have not been paid to date.

“From the records, KMC does not owe Treasury Sh940,241,100 but wishes to confirm the it owed Sh300 million excluding interests and penalty,” said Githaga.
