Kenya’s Industries Drive Job Creation and Global Exports

Kenya’s manufacturing sector is playing a key role in driving economic growth by creating jobs and making use of locally sourced materials, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Lee Kinyanjui, has said.

During a visit to the Athi River Export Processing Zone (EPZA), CS Kinyanjui noted that some companies are using local resources such as sisal to produce high-quality products, including world-class dartboards.

He also highlighted the textile sector, where companies like Nador, Antex, and MAS have provided employment to thousands of young Kenyans. These firms produce apparel for leading international brands, helping position Kenya as a growing player in the global manufacturing landscape.

“The government has put in place incentives, including tax holidays, to attract investors to our industrial zones,” CS Kinyanjui said. “With the extension of AGOA, investors have greater certainty of continued access to the U.S. market, while we also explore new opportunities in Europe, Asia, and across Africa through the AfCFTA.”

CS Kinyanjui was accompanied by Investment Principal Secretary Abubakar Hassan, EPZA Chairman Richard Cheruiyot, and CEO Richard Omelu during the visit.
