MGM Muthu Hotels Expands Its Maasai Mara Portfolio with Muthu Mara River Lodge

MGM Muthu Hotels has announced the opening of Muthu Mara River Lodge, a safari lodge set along the iconic Mara River within the Lemek Conservancy, Aitong, Maasai Mara.

The lodge officially opened on Wednesday, 14 January 2026 and becomes the second MGM Muthu Hotels property in the Maasai Mara, reinforcing the group’s growing investment in Kenya’s tourism sector and its commitment to thoughtfully positioned safari experiences.

Muthu Mara River Lodge features 81 guest rooms, including river-facing accommodation with close proximity to hippo pools, multiple dining venues, and year-round wildlife viewing.

Guests can enjoy sightings of lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife, complemented by guided day and night game drives, bush walks, sundowners, and cultural interactions with the local Maasai community. The lodge also permits off-road game drives within Lemek Conservancy, enhancing wildlife encounters.

Conveniently located less than five minutes from Mara North Airstrip, the lodge offers easy access to balloon safari launch sites. Guests may also visit the Ol Chorro Rhino Sanctuary, home to protected two rare Southern Koffi Annan and Queen Elizabeth white rhino species, approximately 45 minutes’ drive from the lodge.

In addition to leisure, Muthu Mara River Lodge caters to corporate retreats, incentive travel, and private events, featuring one of the largest convention facilities in the Maasai Mara, accommodating up to 200 delegates with reliable connectivity.

Under the concept “Masai Mara to the World,” the lodge is among the first in the region to offer high-speed Starlink connectivity, supporting longer stays, business and remote-working travellers while remaining immersed in the wilderness.

Located approximately 180 kilometres from Nairobi, the lodge offers a seamless transition from city to savannah.
