A coordinated multi-agency operation has dealt a significant blow to narcotics trafficking networks in the Karanja area of Kibra Sub-County, following the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of drugs and distribution equipment.
The operation, led by officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) with support from the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) and the Operations Action Team (OAT), was based on credible intelligence pointing to active drug distribution within the area.

In the first raid, officers targeted a residential house linked to suspected drug trafficking and occupied by 51-year-old Ahmed Juma Wanjiru. After conducting surveillance, the team moved in and carried out a thorough search, recovering 14 packages of dry plant material believed to be narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The substances were carefully packed in non-woven and ziplock bags, suggesting they were intended for distribution. Officers also seized empty packaging materials, two digital weighing scales, and cash amounting to KSh 31,700 suspected to be proceeds of the illegal trade.
Additional items recovered included an international vaccination certificate bearing the suspect’s name and a Samsung Galaxy A05 mobile phone fitted with a Safaricom SIM card. The suspect was arrested and taken into custody as investigations continue.
In a related operation within the same locality, detectives raided another residence occupied by Sofia Burhan Marjan. A search of the premises led to the recovery of seven packages of suspected narcotic substances, additional quantities stored in a basin, and two packages of rolled drugs.
Police also confiscated four weighing scales, scissors, a rolling flag, a metallic smoking pipe, and packaging materials commonly associated with drug preparation and sale.
Investigators further recovered documents, including a cash bail receipt and a charge sheet bearing the suspect’s name, alongside witness statements—raising suspicions of prior involvement in criminal activity.
The second suspect was arrested and is currently being held at Muthaiga Police Station pending further legal action, while all recovered exhibits have been secured for forensic analysis.
