Members of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in Nairobi County are now collecting signatures to oust their leaders from the county assembly.
Currently, Anthony Kiragu serves as the Minority Leader in the county assembly, with South Nairobi ward representative Waithera Chege as his deputy. Mark Mugambi Macharia holds the position of Minority Whip in the assembly.

However, led by Waithera, these UDA members have expressed a lack of confidence in both Kiragu and Mugambi. A total of 35 UDA ward representatives have signed a petition to remove these two leaders, citing their failure to unify UDA members as the basis for their removal.
In a meeting chaired by Jeremiah Themendu, the members stated that these leaders have demonstrated a lack of integrity in executing their duties. Additionally, they accused Kiragu and Mugambi of inadequate representation in the assembly and financial impropriety.
“There has been a proposal to remove these two leaders from office,” reads part of the minutes from the meeting.
However, Kiragu acknowledged the plot to remove him from office, stating, “I am aware that some ward representatives are collecting signatures to oust us. It is an act of envy.”
