Naivas Opens New Store in Nairobi’s Northern Suburb

As Kenyan Retailer Naivas Supermarket turns 35 years old this year, the Premier and homegrown retail brand has continued with its expansion plan as it today unveiled its newest store in the Lucky Summer area and the dynamic Baba Dogo neighbourhoods, strategically deepening its footprint in Nairobi’s fast-growing urban communities.

This opening marks the second rollout of 2025, and a key activation of Naivas’ ambitious growth strategy aligned with its 35th anniversary celebration.

This milestone reinforces Naivas’ legacy of trusted service and signals a renewed commitment to transforming everyday shopping experiences for Kenyans.

Since its humble beginnings in Nakuru in 1990, Naivas has evolved into a formidable force in the retail sector, shaping consumer culture while contributing to national socio-economic development.

Speaking during the unveiling of the new store, Andreas von Paleske, Chief of Strategy at Naivas Supermarkets, said the launch of Lucky Summer is not just another store opening, but a reaffirmation of the retailer’s purpose.

“We are committed as we were in the last three decades, to being a brand that shows up where Kenyans live, work, and dream. This store brings world-class retail closer to the people of Baba Dogo and is a testament to our continuous investment in Kenya’s future. Naivas has always stood for value, trust, and Kenyan resilience,” he said.

“With Lucky Summer, we celebrate not only 35 years of business success but also the people who’ve made the journey possible,” he added.

The Lucky Summer branch is strategically located at a high-density population, high-potential urban hub, as Lucky Summer catalyzes deeper brand presence in Nairobi’s Northern suburbs.

The store has a customer-centric Design with modern features, an intuitive layout optimized for convenience and speed, stocking fresh produce, everyday essentials, and local favorites under one roof.

The branch is expected to have an economic impact, with over 70 new jobs being created, driving both economic empowerment and enterprise growth in the surrounding area.

As Naivas looks to the future, Lucky Summer embodies its strategy to sustainably scale operations, deepen community impact, and unlock new growth levers through partnerships, innovation, and operational excellence.
