Former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu has backed Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni’s demand that the opposition cede the Ol Kalou parliamentary seat to Jubilee, saying the position is grounded in political precedent.
Wambugu argued that Jubilee remains a traditional opposition party under the current administration, unlike other parties he said previously served in government before shifting political positions.
He pointed to a past arrangement in Mbeere North, where he claimed Jubilee stepped down in favour of another party that had transitioned into opposition, noting that such decisions were guided by political agreements and precedent.

He further claimed that Jubilee had even compensated a candidate it withdrew in a previous electoral arrangement, describing it as part of earlier political negotiations.

Wambugu also criticized competing claims over the Ol Kalou seat, arguing that some political actors were not firmly aligned with the opposition despite their public positioning.
He maintained that Jubilee’s case for the seat was valid, saying recent political alignments should be considered when determining party representation in contested constituencies.
