A suspected drug trafficker has been arrested in Butere Sub-County following a successful operation by law enforcement officers that led to the recovery of a large consignment of cannabis sativa.
The suspect, identified as Dennis Obera, was apprehended at his home in Ebushitinji village, Lunza Division, after authorities acted on a tip-off from members of the public.

According to police, officers conducted a thorough search of the premises and discovered five large bags of the illegal substance. The cannabis, commonly referred to as bhang, weighed a total of 155 kilogrammes.
Authorities noted that the suspect had allegedly been using the remote location of his residence to operate his illicit trade, believing it would shield him from detection.
Obera was taken into custody and is currently being held at Butere Police Station, where he is undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court. The recovered narcotics have been secured as exhibits.
Police have reiterated their commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking, warning that individuals involved in the illegal trade will face the full force of the law.
