Nyakera: Nairobi Can’t Grow on “Goonism and Hooliganism”

Democrats for Citizen Party (DCP) patron Irungu Nyakera has accused the current Nairobi County leadership of failing the business community, claiming that the capital has been overrun by “goonism and hooliganism.”

In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Nyakera said city traders have lost confidence in the administration, alleging that leaders have orchestrated chaos and hired goons to frustrate businesses instead of supporting them.

He warned that such actions risk driving away investors and crippling job creation in the capital.

‘Nairobi City will not develop on foundation of goonism and hooliganism as is the case today. The current leadership in Nairobi has failed business community terribly. They have planned against them to destroy their businesses by hiring goons and staging chaos,’ he said.

The former principal secretary said he is ready to offer alternative leadership in 2027 that will “restore dignity” to Nairobi and revive investor confidence.

“Let’s make change in Nairobi that will revive hope for all. I’m ready to lead the way and dignify our capital city for investors to have confidence in investing here and create jobs,” he added.
