Pauline Njoroge’s Exit Deals Fresh Blow to Uhuru’s Jubilee Party

The Jubilee Party has suffered another political setback after one of its most recognizable officials and communications strategists, Pauline Njoroge, announced her resignation, bringing to an end a 14-year association with the party founded by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Njoroge, who served as Jubilee’s Deputy Organizing Secretary and a member of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), said she had resigned from all party positions and relinquished her membership with immediate effect.

Her departure marks the exit of a senior party insider who has been closely associated with Jubilee since its formative years. She joined The National Alliance (TNA) in 2012 as Communications Manager before the party merged with the United Republican Party (URP) to form the Jubilee Party.

Over the years, Njoroge became one of Jubilee’s most vocal defenders, frequently articulating the party’s positions and championing former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s political agenda both during and after his presidency.

In her resignation statement, Njoroge expressed gratitude to Kenyatta, describing him as more than a political leader.

“I am especially grateful to the Jubilee Party Leader, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, who has been more than a leader to me. He has been a mentor, a teacher and a political father. He believed in me, entrusted me with responsibility and invested in my growth,” she said.

She added that her decision was not driven by dissatisfaction with Jubilee but by a conviction that it was time to pursue a new political path.

According to Njoroge, she will now dedicate herself fully to the Linda Mwananchi movement, which she joined earlier this year.

She said the movement offers a platform to advance good governance, constitutionalism, accountability and servant leadership, adding that it aligns with the broader “Wantam” campaign advocating political transition and national renewal.

“My conviction has only grown stronger that this movement represents an important platform for advancing the aspirations of our generation,” she said.

Njoroge maintained that she leaves Jubilee with gratitude, saying the party shaped her political career and gave her opportunities to serve during some of Kenya’s most defining political moments.

Political analysts are likely to interpret her resignation as another sign of the shifting dynamics within Kenya’s opposition, where established political figures are increasingly aligning themselves with emerging movements ahead of the 2027 General Election.

While Njoroge did not announce plans to join another political party, her decision to throw her weight behind Linda Mwananchi adds momentum to a movement that has increasingly attracted politicians and activists pushing for governance reforms and political change.

Her resignation also comes as Jubilee continues to redefine its place in the country’s evolving political landscape following the 2022 General Election, with the party facing the challenge of retaining key figures while remaining relevant within the opposition.
